Berlinale | World Cinema Fund
The Berlinale World Cinema Fund (WCF) "concentrates on backing the production and distribution of films from Latin America, the Caribbean and the Pacific region, Africa, the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia, the Caucasus, as well as Bangladesh, Nepal, Mongolia and Sri Lanka... The goal is to promote high-quality filmmaking in regions with a weak infrastructure for film, while fostering cultural diversity in German cinemas as well as supporting collaboration between German and European producers and partners in WCF regions and countries... The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation "grants support programs at leading film schools to encourage the emerging generation of filmmakers to tackle science and technology themes in their work. Film school programs include a diverse variety of opportunities for students, including seminars that introduce students to the latest scientific discoveries, access to scientific advisors to help with science content, awards for science-themed projects, and networking events with industry insiders."
