Resul Pookutty is an Oscar and MPSE winning sound designer from India; a member of the Oscar committee, the Motion Picture Sound Editors Guild (MPSE), and the Cinema Audio Society (CAS); and the chairperson and festival director of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

Major awards & accolades

  • Conferred the Padma Shri (the fourth highest civilian award) by the Govt. of India
  • Conferred an honorary doctorate by Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit
  • Awarded the title Distinguished Engineer by Rocheston, New York.
  • Winner of an Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing, along with Richard Pryke and Ian Tapp, for Slumdog Millionaire.
  • Winner of a BAFTA award for Best Sound, for Slumdog Millionaire
  • Winner along with Amrit Pritam, Vijay Kumar, Karnail Singh, Sajjan Choudhary, Sampath Alwar, and Krsna Solo of an MPSE Golden Reel Award for Best Sound Editing - Short Form Documentary in Television, for 'India's Daughter.'
  • Winner along with Amrit Pritam of and two Producers Guild of India Apsara Awards, for 'Ra.One' and 'Blue.'
