Dalton is a film critic and music journalist who has served on the jury of the National Film Awards and MG University, and delivered lectures at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) and Guwahati University.

He started his journalistic odyssey writing for The Hindu, and covering music shows and reviewing music for the Free Press Journal and the Times of India group. Following that, he reviewed films for Rediff, The Film Street Journal, and the Deccan Chronicle /The Asian Age.

He's presently on the advisory board of four festivals and is on the verge of completing his book ‘Relativity Theory of Indian Cinema.’
